Happy Birthday Always

It took me almost half a day to make this cake. I thought I'd be spending my birthday alone so I figured I might as well take some time and make a cake. Then the idea for a three layer birthday cake came to me. I thought the cake needed lots of colorful frosting on each layer too.

I made the cake in three separate sections. This is one cake which will be 'baked' after it's frosted. You didn't think it was edible did you? If you did I am flattered, but it's a ceramic cake. This ceramic cake is 14 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide.

I'm so glad I thought to make a ceramic cake; I'd like to make more because I think a ceramic cake is the perfect birthday present for anyone at any age. Making this cake is special to me because it marks my 60th birday. When it came time to put the lettering on the bottom section I wanted the cake to have appeal to anyone in any year, so I wrote, Happy Birthday Always.

Last night Gary called from Tallahassee so he will be home today to help me celebrate. He said he has some stories to tell about his trip, so stay tuned for some of those.

I dedicate this cake to all those who might be spending a birthday alone any day of the year, Happy Birthday Always.

  9. Happy Birthday Linda! That's a great ceramic cake, and I like the sentiment of an "always" cake too. I've been alone on many of my birthdays, and wedding anniversaries too...that's why around here, we celebrate for the entire birthday week, instead of just the day. Hubby's b-day was on the 3rd....was that your anniversary day?

  13. Hi Varda, thanks, and happy birthday to you. And I just saw Kitty had a birthday too, yes it seems a lot of creative people are Gemini.

Hi Kittie, thanks, I didn't realize there were so many the same age as me, I don't feel so old now.

Hi Lori, thanks, I hope to make more, already thinking of a smaller version with a blue background and other types of decor.

Hi Sapphire, thanks so much, I can't wait to read your post.

Hi Dan, thanks, you are so right bloggers are never alone. I am so glad some were fooled into thinking this is a real cake. It might look nice sitting on a silver platter in the middle of a table after it is fired.

Hi Meredith, thanks, glad you love the cake; I kind of love it too. It doesn't look ceramic which is kind of neat. I need to find Gary's download tool to get his photos on the computer then some stories.

Hi Cindy, thanks, it does look yummy, Gary thought it was a real looking cake too.

    Hi MauriceBaumer, thanks.

Hi Turquoisemoon, thanks, I can't even imagine making a real cake like this, but then again, probably not much more complicated than making a ceramic one.

Hi Barbara, thanks, I guess now I can celebrate always, te he, our anniversary was on the second and when we first got married I told Gary I wanted separate gifts for our anniversary and my birthday, that kind of went by the wayside after a few years by mutual agreement.

Hi Tracey, thanks, never too late since it's happy birthday always.

Hi Trish, thanks, glad you like the cake, I hope to continue with all the c's.

Hi Patricia, thanks, glad you like the cake, I have high hopes for this cake; I hope it makes it through the firing stages.

  15. Hi Amy, thanks so much. I just let me imagination run wild sometimes, I think the clay has a way of doing that to us. I have so many other ideas, I just haven't had a chance to make them yet. I often think the same thing, what will I think of next.
