Unpacking and Packing

Today was great fun unpacking my ceramics and putting them on the shelves. Thinking about my past work and dreaming about future work. I still have three more bins to unpack.

Made a couple of vases today and yesterday I made the textured bowl. The vases are about 12 inches tall and 4 inches wide and the bowl is about 12 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Gary saw a copperhead by our front door today. I think I'll wait till tomorrow to throw my clay water outside.

Tomorrow I've got to get some mailing boxes to send out some ceramics. Then I need to start start packing for our trip to North Carolina for the Clay and Blogs show.

We plan to stop along the way. I told Gary I wanted to stop here or there and he said why are we going there. I said to visit a couple of potters. He just rolled his eyes. While I'm gone my work will be drying and when I come back home I think it'll be nice to have work ready to fire. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

  1. You will be inspired to make more pieces when you get home from that trip. It'll be good for you to have some pieces ready to fire.
    Have a safe trip.

  2. Love the vases -- and even though unpacking is not a fun job - isn't it great to see stuff you haven't seen in a few months. It's almost like catching up with old friends.

  3. I'm so happy for you that you get to go the Clay and Blogs Show!!! Please take lots of pictures of everyone and their works. By now you are starting to have enough work for a show/sale -the vases are great.

  4. Hi Lori, thanks, I can't wait; this trip will be pleasure instead of the trip out here which was work and my health is a little better too.

Hi Judy, thanks, you know I am enjoying unpacking my work, I cant' get inspiration from some of my old pieces and it is a lot like old friends and reminds me of my classmates too.

Hi Cindy, thanks, you know me I will take lots of photos, I am sending your package off this week, I'll email you. I may have to wait till the show is over to post photos from the show if they allow that, but there will be plenty of other photos. I have all those four bookcases filled with work; I can't believe I have so much ceramics work. I plan to have an open studio here when I get back.

  8. Hi Patricia, thanks, I hope the shell stays on there, it was rather then behind and there is a lot of stress to that spot. Gary calls it an elvis collar vase due to the shape of the lip. Ha.

Hi Meredith, thanks, I'll keep you posted. Copperheads aren't as bad as coral snakes or cottonmouths, at least the slink away.

Hi Sharon, thanks, I hope to have a great time.
