Blog Pages

Looking at other booths helps me decide how I want my own booth to look. I took a few photos of booth displays at a recent art fair in Ocala and I've added the photos in a separate page to my blog. Just click on the tab at the top and it will take you to that page. I've also added a contact page and will be adding finished work to my gallery page very soon, so stay tuned for those.

I've been working on land inspired pieces. The first vase is about seven by ten inches and I've come back to a shape I made a couple of years ago. I'm still working on my booth shelves, painting them. Once I have them ready I'll show you how they turned out, and I'll set up in my tent in my back yard as a trial run.

The next piece is a free form bowl, another shape I've used in the past. It's about seven by ten inches where I'm experimenting with different colors of natural clay slip. My intention was to make the surface look like stone with fissures. I textured the slab and then added three different slips to the surface and then made sgraffito fissures and added a white clay into those. Next time I might inlay the fissures with a solid coil of clay of a contrasting color.

Coming up I'll have my shelves completed to show you, so stay tuned. One more day for the Clay and Blogs Show, so hurry on out to see the show if you haven't been.

  1. I love the free-form of that bowl and the fissures are a great idea. You live in an almost constant state of creativity it seems. How wonderful! Thank you, again, for letting us into your world. A fine place to be.

  3. Hi

I'm glad to hear that you are making your booth shelves. I can't wait to see them! And your new pages are lovely! I love the free-form bowl. Its color is very nice, especially the light pink!!

  4. The page about the book shelves was interesting. Some were great, others--the tall single specimen towers looked precarious and limiting.
Who ever worked in only white and teal chose a good display tactic.
Lot to consider huh? Can't wait to see yours.

  5. Thanks for posting the photos of display booths! Great resource to look at them all in one place. Looking forward to seeing your next step with all this... If it doesn't rain here, I do a show tomorrow! Only tables at this one, though, not actual booth... Weather here is supposed to storm, so it will most likely be cancelled... I like your new land-inspired pieces!

  6. The free-form bowl calls so many different natural forms to mind--a fallen leaf, a water lilly, the inside of a blossom holding water for tiny tadpoles to thrive in or small birds to drink from, or maybe just an accidental little puddle existing for the moment.
    Awesome!

  7. Hi Teresa, thanks, I keep coming back to some of my same style of pots.

Hi Marguerite, thanks so much; I'll be adding a recipe page too.

Hi Sapphire, thanks, I think you like pink. I might just have to make something in pink just for yo to see.

Hi Patti, thanks, I thought it was kind of interesting too to see some good ones and ones not so appealing. The one with the two colors was nice, but I noticed not many folks went into the booth, perhaps it was too nice and unapproachable.

Hi Patricia, thanks, good luck at the show I hope it doesn't rain on you.

Hi Ms, Sparrow, thanks so much, you have quite an imagination, I love it.
