Happy Thanksgiving Giveaway

No turkey's around here, well maybe one, but I'm not saying who. But the other day at the post office I saw this Brahma resting in an adjacent field. The Brahma looks so peaceful lying there, as if in meditation. I wish I could have gone up and pet the cow. Apparently this breed of cattle is very docile, can handle the heat better than other breeds, and both male and female can have horns. So, no bull, I don't know if this is a bull or not. But it doesn't matter, the Brahma is beautiful lying there basking in the sun. Now every time I go to the post office I look for the Brahma.

In the spirit of giving thanks, this is a giveaway. I will be giving away the Fossil Shell Pinch Bowl above. I chose this bowl because you can feel my thumb prints in the side of the bowl. This speckled stoneware bowl is glazed in an matt blue and gold exterior and a lavender matt interior and is 3.75 tall by 4.25 wide in inches.

BUT - I'm changing the giveaway a little bit. Make a comment here and tell me who you'd like me to send the bowl to and why. I'll have Gary pick one person's name out of a hat who leaves a comment on this post and will send the bowl via the USPS to whomever the winning person chooses. If your name is chosen you must email me the name and mailing address of the person you choose to send the gift to. Comment cut off time is Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 at 12 noon Eastern Standard Time.

Happy Thanksgiving.

  1. The bowl is gorgeous and I'd love my wonderful sister to have it. She's not only an art lover, who'd adore this bowl, she's a terrific person, who I speak to every single day (sometimes more than once!). She's a great support, wonderful woman, and a lot of fun to boot. And...I think she'd adore this piece of art to add to her collection of beautiful things.

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Gary! Boy picking someone for the give away is just too difficult. You will have to make about 30 of those. I couldn't name just one person.

  5. Hi Ronna, thanks, isn't it wonderful the people that surround our lives, so good to learn about your sister and hearing about your love for her on this thanksgiving day. happy holidays to you and good luck.

Hi Yolanda, thanks, hope you are having a great holiday. My email is the same and it is also posted in the contact info listed on the link at the top of my blog. Have a good one.

Hi Judy, thanks, I would gladly make 30 of them, but the mailing cost would be prohibitive. Making thirty of something before noon is something for me to strive for that's for sure. Happy holidays and good luck.

Hi Michele, thanks, so nice to learn about your friend Steve in New Hamphire and how supportive he has been to you.

I had no idea when I posted that this would happen, but hearing from you about who you all would give a gift to is the greatest gift I could ever receive.

In the strict sense of the word, I am not a religious person, but the saying "give and you shall receive" is really holding true for me today.

Thanks so much to all my blogger friends.

  10. What a cool artsy blog this is Linda, I'm now following you. Thanks for commenting, I like this blog. How very talented you are. And I guess I am in time for your contest! I'd like you to send the bowl to my daughter in law. She and my son have been unable to sell their home in San Antonio while he has started a new job in Houston. It's a kind of depressing time for her, and this would surely cheer her up and bring her good luck I think.

  14. Hi Karen G, thanks every so much for stopping by. I do hope your daughter sells her home in Texas. We were having a terrible time selling our home in California before we moved here and we posted it on Zillow and Craigslist and kept those up to date even though we had it listed with a real estate. The people who bought our home saw my photos on Zillow and that enticed them to come have a look. We also had 5 lookers from craigslist, so those sites do help. Just have to be persistent and priced right, I wish your daughter good luck.

HI Marguerite, thanks, we had a relaxing day here, hope your's was the same. Good luck to you.

Check back on Tuesday for the winner.

  16. Yay! I like contests. I was disappointed at first that I couldn’t win your shell bowl. Then I got to thinking, if it goes to my friend (and fellow blogger) Patti, I could enjoy seeing it at her house. She is well deserving of a prize. She has been a terrific friend to me, she is always good for a chuckle, she takes good care of Brandy when I am gone, and she introduced me to blogging. She is all together a terrific person. Your cactus/seaweed vase turned out great! : )

  17. Hi Meredith, thanks, this is a different kind of giveaway, to give to someone else other than yourself, but I won't put you in the hat if you don't want to, hope you are doing well.

Hi Jewels, thanks so much about the cactus vase. I really do need to try that one again. I'll put your name in the hat, Patti would be a good person to get a gift for sure. How close do you two live to one another? That is so cool.
