Three Finns in Florida

It's not often you'll find a person with pure lineage. And then to get three of the same lineage together in the same place is rarer. Here are three Finns, left to right, my husband Gary who lives in Florida, Gary's cousin, Jack who lives in New Hampsire, and Gary's second cousin Arne who lives in Finland.

Jack travels to Finland once a year to visit with Arne. Wonder if Arne knows his name means eagle. I suppose he does. Jack and Arne have been researching the Finnish family tree for years. They travel to various places in Finland looking for long lost relatives or towns where relatives might have lived in the past. They've traced the family tree back to, I think, the 1400's or earlier. That's the Finnish Coat of Arms pictured from wikipedia.

Jack and Arne stopped by for a visit yesterday and we all drank a few beers, well they did, I stuck with a glass of wine. We went to a local hangout, The Freezer Tiki Bar, for more beers, I had ice water since I was the designated driver. They do a hopping business at The Freezer, It's no wonder their fresh shrimp, clams, and crab is excellent. Jack swears by Yuengling beer which they had on tap. Yuengling boasts as the oldest beer in America, since 1829. We had a grand old time talking about old and new times.

Jack and Arne are now back over to Clermont to do more golfing. They both came to Florida to escape from their respective cold climates for short time. Next time they better stay longer, we have more local spots we want to take them. I think the two of them are addicted to golf.

  1. You really picked the redwood of the group. Is Gary that tall or are they that short?
What a fun time you must have had. How neat that they have traced the ancestory so far back.
