Stinging

It could have been a stinging experience, but luckily it wasn't. The other day I was in the garage glazing pottery. I reached for this moon bowl to refresh my memory of how the glass had melted. As I looked inside I saw this scorpion and immediately jumped back.

I wondered how the scorpion got in the bowl and why he chose this bowl. Perhaps he thought the blue was water and he wanted to go for a swim. Perhaps the bowl was nice and cool and he took refuge from the heat. At any rate he was carried out and deposited in the grass. My words of wisdom for this week are: careful what you reach for. Thanks for reading and for your comments.

  4. I actually like the way he looks in the bowl...of course that's easy to say when it's not my bowl with the scorpion in it.

  5. Oh my, you were lucky to see it first! I didn't know Florida had scorpions and thought they only lived in very dry climates. And it is strange that he chose that bowl. lol

  6. Hi Michele, thanks, apparently they are common here, Gary keeps finding them drown in the pool.

Hi Meredith, thanks, haven't found any in the house yet, but the pool and garage.

Hi June, thanks, I guess it pays to stay alert around here. Ha.

Hi Lori, thanks, I must have had a bit of that liking it too, since I took time to take a photo, he kind of looked like a tourist in the bowl.

Hi Marguerite, thanks, yeah we find them in the pool too, wonder if they like that blue color or are just looking for water.

  7. Wow, and here I thought having black widow spiders in my garage was bad. Scorpions look like the scariest creature ever. But it does look rather pretty in that bowl, the contrast anyway.

Hi Nanda, thanks and welcome, the scorpion liked the bowl too, Ha.
