Whimsy Crept In

Last night I set out to make something completely different and somehow whimsy crept in. I've been trying to keep myself from going off on tangents, but you know how I am. I'm hoping to stick with floral related pieces. There's a flower on the lid so I guess this one counts.

My hope springs eternal sculpture found a new home. This is the only photo I have and the robin's eggs don't even show. Maybe I should have my cube in the garage while I'm unloading the kiln. Thanks for reading and for your comments.

  3. It looks female and like she's got a little attitude. I love it.

  4. It looks like a monk with his hands on his hips, perhaps in consternation, which I like somehow.

Hope springs eternal has been sold? As it should be. I have always liked it.

  5. Hi Lori, thanks, she does have an attitude, what you want see is, she is leaning backwards in exclaim! Everything I make leans, I may need to get a geometry book from the library to see how to construct my cardboard forms without them leaning. Ha.

  6. Hi Teresa, thanks, yes there is definite consternation in this form. I should have posted the side view which would illustrate that even more.

  7. Linda - I love her attitude. Someone recently told me that wearing bifocals can alter your perspective -- because my stuff seems to always be slightly off center.

  8. You can't have too much whimsy!

  9. Hi Judy, thanks, I wear those cheapy magnifying glasses, but I think this one leans because the form is larger on the bottom than the top and somehow my pattern isn't correct, the geometry of it all escapes me. I may look at the library and see if there is a book on how to make forms.

Hi Helen, thanks, yes in today's world I need all the whimsy I can get since life (at least mine) is sometimes much more serious than I like.

  10. Judy... i agree about the lens thing! I have transition lenses and i also have the problem of thinking everything i makes looks a little off. now i measure it or use a level before making corrections just to be sure.. it stinks to get old!

  11. Love her attitude, Linda. And the height...tall is 'in' these days. My first thought was a take on one of the fertility statues from Egyptian/Greco and so on times...think you should do more of these...they truly 'speak' - if that makes any sense.

  12. Linda, I am always in awe of the pieces you make. I have no talent to make art but am most appreciative of the work of those who can. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  15. Hi Michele, thanks, you got that right, it does stink to get old in the body when the mind is so young, frustrating.

Hi Kittie, thanks, fertility statue, I'll have to have a look at a few of those to get some more inspiration, not that I need any more though Ha.

Hi Mary, thanks so much, I'm having fun anyway. Ha.

Hi Patti, thanks, there is a recurring theme here of everyone liking the attitude, perhaps my alter personality comes out in these pieces and I don't realize it, in fact I am sure that's happening. ha.

Hi Mrs. G., thanks, yep I am having fun and that's important for me to do, I can get too serious at times.
