Cat Cuddling Day

Betty loves her head rubbed

Today was a cat cuddling day. I had to take a break from everything else to give my three cats, Betty, Binky, and Butter, some much needed attention and reassurance. Click on the links for a couple of unique stories about each of my male cats. I haven't told you a story about Betty, one of these days I'll have to remedy that. Betty and Binky are eleven years old and Butter is about seven years old.

Binky likes lying on the tile floor

All three of them were traumatized from all the fireworks night before last. They had upset stomachs and were flinching at the slightest noise all day yesterday. I heard a few fireworks last night, but thankfully they've dwindled down. I can't imagine what it must have been like for all the birds sleeping and the other forest animals. Hopefully all the neighbors have run out of fireworks now.

Butter likes drinking out of the watering can

I'm hoping to do some firing this week but have to work around thunder storms. If you electric fire how do you manage that? Florida seems to have so many summer storms, it's hard to find a day there isn't a risk of lightening strikes. Up next some modern yet primitive clay pieces. Have a good one and thanks for all your comments.

  2. Hi Meredith, thanks, I've taken a couple of cat naps lately, then I feel refreshed; sometimes life is tiring that's for sure.

  3. I enjoy vicarious cat cuddling! The photo of butter with the green eyes and the green watering can is very cool.

  4. All the three cats look very happy and make me smile. The way Betty closes her eyes with a smile on her face - she is surely a good cat! I enjoyed this cat cuddling post very much. thank you, Linda.

  5. i can't imagine life without cats... except for the days they yack up hairballs ;-)

i remember some years back jz was firing a bisque in the electric kiln and the power went out. he turned it back on a couple of hours later when the power was restored. of course i have no clue what would happen in a glaze firing.

  6. With my old manual kiln, it's not a problem unless the power stays off. With a controller every little flicker can turn them off.I guess you just have to keep checking and scroll back thru your program so you can resume at current temp if they do turn off.

  8. They are really cute kitties and I'm glad that the fireworks are over. We had a lot in our neighborhood, too.

  9. I also have three kitties but only one, the male, seems affected by fireworks and thunder. He slinks around looking for a hiding place while crying pitifully. Cuddling helps get him through it, as you have found out, as well.

  10. Hi Margaret, thanks and welcome, really Butter's eyes are golden I think, perhaps there is a reflection from the watering can.

Hi Sapphire, thanks, Betty is a sweet little cat she follows me wherever I go, right now she is sitting between the monitor and the key board and I can barely type. Ha.

Hi Michele, thanks, yes there are the hairballs and since these are indoor cats there is the litter box which gets quite full quickly with three cats, but what can we do.

Hi Dennis, thanks, I guess I better learn how to scroll back through the program.

Hi Mary, thanks, some animals are like that blaming us for all the troubles, Ha.

Hi Marguerite, thanks, some of them were splashing the side of our house, there were so many, maybe it was just the whizzing sound, this morning our neighbor set off a huge one and there was so much smoke in his back yard we started to run over there thinking it was an explosion, then he came out and told us.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, Binky is the most affected, he was lost in the snow and I think somehow folks tried to shew him away and he's never been the same since then, but he is better than he used to be when we first got him back.
