Meagan Chaney Workshop

Over the last several years various circumstances have prevented me from taking advantage of many workshops I wanted to attend to enhance and improve my pottery skills. Last week I learned about a workshop being given by Florida potter Meagan Chaney. I decided to take advantage of the fact I can drive to the workshop from my home since it's close by.

Over the last several months I've been working with floral forms and adding glass to the glazes so Meagan's workshop, Clay and Glass, An Exploration of Combining Materials, really peaks my interest. This weekend and next I'll be learning all I can from Meagan in her studio in Ocala, Florida. I'm looking forward to meeting Meagan since I've long admired her work. I was able to see several of her sculptures up close at the Clay and Blogs show in North Carolina and Meagan also has one of her sculptures hanging in the Appleton Museum in Ocala which I visited not too long ago. I'll post more about the workshop soon.

The kiln is down to 626 F; lightening threatened during the slow cool, but didn't materialize, thank goodness. I hope the kiln cools enough for me to take a peak before tomorrow. I'm chomping at the bit to look inside, you know how that is. The pieces I patched with vinegar, two flower carts, more glass combos, a garden mask and more are in this load, so stay tuned. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
