Fool's Gold

Don't be caught buying any fool's gold today, please buy local and handmade. That's where the real gold is. I forgot to post this box with a pyrite handle the other day, but it's the perfect lead in for my post today. Pyrite is actually quite a beautiful mineral in it's natural form and is often found close to veins of real gold.

Every once in a while something happens to my camera and the photos aren't quite in focus. I must press a button and I am not sure which one it is. Hopefully it will return to it's original setting real soon. Hope you had a relaxing Thanksgiving. Stay tuned for photos of some new work. I fired the kiln yesterday and it's down to 350F now. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  3. Nope, no fools gold for me & no Black Friday marketing schemes. I am not buying much at all for Christmas gifts, just hoping my pieces will come out of the kiln in time to ship home!
Love the glaze on this box!

  4. Wonderful sentiments Linda. No fool's gold for us. Just a simple meal and some college football. No black friday nonsense! Hub and I did get each other an anniversary gift last week, both handmade from local artists. So goes for the few Christmas gifts, handmade by other artists or ourselves.

I rely on my auto button too much on my camera, really should learn all the settings.

    This box is lovely!

  7. Hi Dennis, thanks, guess we were both thinking the same thing this morning.

Hi Michele, thanks, hey I use auto focus too, but there is something about the lighting that overrides it or something, I can't find the darn manual for this thing but it does keep on ticking.

Hi Becky, thanks, me neither, not buying a thing unless it's from a flea market, Ha. That glaze either comes out real shiny or matt like that, never know. Ha.

Hi Barbara, thanks, never could handle the crowds, give me a one on one and I'm just fine. I don't know have of my camera settings as long as I can take a few good photos it's ok by me.

Hi Mary, thanks, yep we try and buy local as much as we can.

Hi Amy, thanks, good to hear from you, hope your settling in well and can't wait to hear about your escapades in clay.

  8. I know people who live for Black Friday and love them, but I certainly don't understand it nor can I relate.

  9. Hi Rubye, thanks, well there is the thrill of the hunt, Ha. I used to be that way about thrift stores and antiques. Still enjoy a few garage sales now and then.

  10. Your assembled pieces are very sharp. I'd like to know how the shoppers react to these.
