I Don't Use Soap

I have closets full of wares to be fired so I'm getting ready for another bisque load. Pedestal bowls, soap dishes, small dipping bowls, test tiles, pendants, a few sculptures, experimental pieces, and more.

Remember Gary was going to diversify by selling some soaps at the flea markets. Seems everyone either knows someone who makes soaps, they have a lots of soap given to them as gifts, or they said 'I don't use soap'. Folks actually tell Gary they don't use soap. I can't believe folks don't use soap. Gary said the ones who said they didn't use soap really should have been using it.

Other folks said they use body wash, mostly the elderly. I guess if they drop the soap they don't want to risk bending over to pick it up for fear of falling in the shower. One guy told Gary he went to a craft fair the other day and there were ten soap vendors. The good news is we have lots of nice soaps to use and we are enjoying them. This post is part of show and tell Saturday for Artists in Blogland. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. I'm surprised that so many people don't use soap. I guess it isn't a good time to get into the soap-making business, then!

  3. I have heard the "I don't use soap" at the food pantry. We have bars of soap, but people ask for body wash instead: I don't use soap.

  4. Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, yes we were surprised too, but maybe they can't afford soap either.

Hi Terri, thanks, the bisque is cooling off now, so a glaze load coming soon.

Hi Mary, thanks, I wonder is body wash less expensive than soap or perhaps they don't like commercial soap; years ago a friend of ours made soaps and ever since then we have preferred hand made soaps because they are nicer on the skin and have a wonderful fragrance.

  6. Hi Corrine, thanks, especially if you would have gotten a whiff of their fragrance you wouldn't think they'd brag about it. I'll be sure to post some of the experimental pieces coming up soon.
