Symmetry

Here's some pendants from the last firing. In the second set you'll see some with a rather muddy color. Gary said those are the pendants which men purchase. Just because I don't like the colors, doesn't mean someone else might not.

Another glaze load is cooling and contains Boris the cat, a cart, and the breezeway birdhouse, so stay tuned for those. Plus there's more floral and vine trays, some I made with a different clay body. I just noticed all the photos in this post have symmetry going on, even the kiln shelves below.

Adding in this extra half shelf helped me fit everything in this load. I have a ton of those mini tiles and now I'm wondering what I'll do with them all. I've glazed them in various colors and I'm trying to think of some type of mosaic I might make with them. Hope the kiln gods are kind. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Hello Linda:
You are absolutely right, there is a very marked symmetry to be found in all of these images. But that is something we rather like, as we do your very attractive pendants.

We wish you much joy this Eastertide.

  2. Hi Jane and Lance, thanks, I couldn't help but arrange them symmetrically, sometimes I just can't help myself, much like wanting to fit puzzle pieces in the places they must go. Ha.

  6. Love all the glaze colors. I love muted colors as well as bright colors. It is good to have a range.
I like seeing things lined up. Sometimes we need a little order. It is very calming!

  7. My students sometimes will get a beautiful result from glazing but they can't see it because they were expecting something different. What you said is pretty much what I tell them. Just step away from the piece for a little while, you'll see that it's beautiful.

  8. Hi Mary, thanks, I try to mix it up and make ones with variety to appeal to lots of folks.

Hi Charlene, thanks, yes a little order helps to keep things calms amid the chaos.

Hi Lori, thanks, with reduction firings that was the hardest thing for me, now if I don't like it I set it aside, also I notice if I post here on my blog lots of time someone else will like a piece I thought was horrible, go figure. Ha.
