Mobile Home

Here's my rendition of a cross between a cabin and a wagon, a mobile home. I made the door opening large enough so a votive size candle can be placed inside. I had some tea light candles as props in one of my shrines and a visitor to my booth yesterday told me about battery operated candles. What a good idea, I never heard of them. Thanks for that tip. So I'll be getting a few to incorporate into my pottery displays. I think one would be perfect inside this mobile home.

I used the same texture I put on my plates for the sides and roof of the mobile home. Lately I've been making mini tiles and pendants with my left over slabs of clay and am pretty well stocked with those. So I thought to make some mini beach houses in pastel colors with left over clay. These are only about three inches high.

I might make a whole group of these small ones and attach them to a rustic board or something. I have a few more ideas on that, maybe a miniature city. You can see these pieces and more today at the grand opening of Artistic Studio 30 in Tarpon Springs (address on sidebar) from 11 am to 4 pm, please stop in if you're in the area. There will be music, food, art, and lively conversation.

Sales were brisk at the farmer's market yesterday in Beverley Hills. Yes, Florida has it's own Beverly Hills where lots of famous people hang out. Ha. I'll be back there again on June 1st from 9 to 1 pm. Leaf plates, rectangular plates, pendants, soap dishes and more went to new homes. Quite a few people admired my pottery  and display. Several others remarked about my bamboo plates and by the end of the day the plates went to a new home. Thanks so much to all of you for your conversations, suggestions, and for supporting my pottery adventures.

  2. Hi Elaine, thanks, a Victorian bathing machines, never heard of it, I will have to look that up. Oh I just looked it up, women used them in the sea so they wouldn't be seen in their bathing suits, Oh I must learn more about these and make a few more, thanks, ever so much for our comment.

  7. Hello Linda:
Your 'mobile home' made us instantly think of bathing machines which we so popular in Victorian seaside towns, especially Brighton where we live in England. They would be wheeled to the sea's edge so that 'ladies' could bathe and return to the bathing hut without being too visible in their bathing costumes.

  11. Hi Jane and Lance, thanks, I'll have to make another one with big wheels and a ladder for the ladies to climb in and out and call it a bathing machine. Ha. I think I was reading that England was where these bathing houses originated, probably the spot you mentioned.

Hi Michele, thanks, I hope to get a couple today to see how they work.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, it keeps me out of trouble.

Hi Patti, thanks, apparently some of the bathing houses were man powered, horse drawn, or steam powered but a goat would be cute too. Yeah I guess the battery ones would be safer than a candle if left unattended.

Hi Mary, thanks, yes if mobile homes looked like this more folks would find them appealing, maybe I can have a few human sized ones manufactured and make a bundle. But let's see I'd need a lot of capital to get started, oh well.
