Six Inches of Rain

We had six inches of rain in two days from tropical storm Beryl. We hadn't had any measurable rain in a long time so it was welcome. All the plants seem to be happy after the long dry spell. Here's a coleus in my front yard with boxwood shrubs in the background. I like the contrast of different size, shape, and color of leaves in the landscape.

I made a couple more pinch pots and attached some hand formed scallop shells to the front. I used a real scallop shell impressed into the clay. The shell came from when we went scallop diving in the gulf a couple of years ago.

These are half the size of the pinch pot of the previous post. Now I'm wondering if I should put some holes in the bottom and make these planters for the kitchen counter or a window sill and make some saucers for underneath them. What do you think? Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. I think some of that rain is coming our way- we could use a nice steady rain.

  2. Love those shell bowls. We too had great piles of rain, not from Beryl, just unseasonably hot weather and an old fashioned cold front!

  3. isn't wonderful when the rain comes? Plants seem to say, "AAAHHHH!" and relax.
I like those little pots. I think they would look great with little plants in them.

  4. Lucky you with all that lovely water. We are bone dry.
I think they would make really cool planters. Nice touch with the shells.

  5. Why not make some planters, some berry bowls and leave some without any holes?

like Meredith said, we could use some rain here, we have only had some brief showers.

  7. The bowls are very attractive. I can see them as soup bowls or side dishes.

  8. Hi Meredith, thanks, we were getting worried around here it had been so long.

Hi Ronna, thanks, hot and cold not a good mix, possibly spawn tornadoes.

Hi Suzi, thanks, I did put some holes in them and now I'll make a couple of saucers. The plants around here were really saying ah, it had been so long for them.

Hi Patti, thanks, it had been a long time since we had rain and we are below normal still.

Hi Lori, thanks, what a good idea, I'll have to make a few more, I think individual berry bowls would be great.

Hi Michele, thanks, hope you get a good soaking rain soon.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, wonder about the shell on a soup bowl, do you think it would be distracting? Oh maybe they could be clam chowder bowls and I could say the shell is a clam shell, Ha.
