Coastal Dreaming

Today I was dreaming of the coast. Which coast? Anyone will do, even a coastal river. Here's my coastal dream porch. This porch is next door to the fish market we go to on the Homosassa River. Lots of Boston ferns thrive in the shade and the white washed wicker furniture is so inviting. Every time we go to the fish market I want to sneak over there and sit on the porch. Today I was dreaming of furnishing my own coastal retreat while looking at The Old Boathouse vintage treasures. Paint Me White has lots of ideas for makeovers and then I thought of a few sewing projects with a coastal theme having been inspired by Beach Vintage.

Even on a cloudy, rainy day a never repeating view of boats and birds delights the eye from that porch. Florida is full of birding trails even here in Citrus County we have lots of birds to see. I've never lived on the water, perhaps one day I will. But today I figured it doesn't hurt to dream of coastal living. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Hello Linda:
One of the few things we really miss about living in land locked Hungary is the sea. Periodically it is such a pleasure to return to our Brighton apartment where, even from our bed, we can watch the mighty oceans [or, to be more accurate, the English Channel!!].

  3. What a lovely porch. A cup of coffee there would be nice *smile* even if it's not yours.

  4. That is one beautiful porch. I don't blame you for wanting to sit on it!

I grew up next to the ocean. Now I live in the woods. I don't really miss the water since the whole area has become even more of a day tripper and vacation spot than it was. My favorite time for walks by the shore is September when all have gone home!

  5. Oh What a lovely porch! I also dream of living a coastal life though it seems an impossible dream. Since my hometown has beaches, ports and some sea areas, I really love to see the blue sea, boats coming and going and the sun going down over the sea. I love to collect shells too. Your "tidal pool" on the side bar is so nice!

  6. I grew up on the water in Sweden, I sailed in the Pacific outside Los Angeles, and now I live in the desert mountains. Happily-- Go figure!

  7. Hmmm, I have seen maps of Florida showing the coastal areas that will be inundated by rising sea levels as the ice on the poles melt. You might want to live farther inland!

  8. Just checked out your last post and wondered if you might develope the weaving technique into wall sculpture. Like the finish you did on that.

  9. What a lovely porch! I grew up on the bayou which is actually a river and have been spending a lot of time at my childhood home lately, with my Dad. I also spent 20 years on the coast of Maryland, and I so I love living on the water. It's magical, really!

  12. Hi Jane and Lance, thanks, I remember your photos of the views from your apartment in Brighton, that would be just the view anyone would want for sure.

Hi Meredith, thanks, yes listening to the waves, the ones on Todos Santos were really something to hear.

Hi Elna, thanks, do you think they'd notice if they came out and saw me sitting there? ha.

Hi Suzi, thanks, that's the kind of beach I like too, one all to myself.

Hi Sapphire, thanks, we live close enough to go to the beach, but it isn't the same as living right there I don't think. I made that tidal pool years ago I should make more, it hangs on the wall and is about 10 inches round.

Hi Inger, thanks, well you can take a trip to the beach from where you live, we used to travel to Cambria when we lived in Springville.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, actually we live at 95 feet which is high for Florida and we are about 15 miles from the beach, but living right there would be much different, maybe just an RV spot would be the ticket.

Hi Melissa, thanks, I was thinking about some wall hangings too, thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Marguerite, thanks, I lived in Maryland when I was 10 near the Susquehanna River and I remember the Chesapeake bay was really something.

Hi Patti, thanks it doesn't hurt to have a real place to imagine does it, I'd live on the ground floor and sit on the porch all day long. Ha. as if I could sit all day, dream on.

Hi Lori, thanks I've been thinking of a vacation for a couple of years now, this year may be the one I have to go somewhere no matter what. Ha.
