Here's a confetti tower I'm working on. It's about fifteen inches tall. The confetti melted a little in the heat. Not really but that's what it looks like, which is what I was after. Gary said it looks fifties style or like a woman's dress. Not sure if I should put color on the top portion and if I do what color to use. Purple would be too dark, yellow too light, maybe orange or green. Hum? Normally I like a matt clear, but I think the confetti would be nice shiny. Once again I have no idea how I'll get glaze on the inside.
Here's what it looked like before I put on the confetti. I set it directly on my turntable to drizzle the confetti. Do you see where this is headed? Then I had to let the drips dry before I could move it. With cats I was really worried so I moved it to the bathroom and locked the door. Then I realized the top part might dry too much so I put a plastic bag just over that section. I finally got it in the cabinet, but I smudged the drips a little which I didn't want to do. I'll know better next time. It might be time to splurge for a hair dryer. I'd like to make a whole group of these colorful tall towers and a group with glazes too. I can usually only make one a day though, so it might be a while. This post is part of Mud Colony what's happening in the studio. Thanks for all your comments, I love hearing what you have to say.
