Wahoo and a Jointed Tower

Our local fish market, Shelly's Seafood, had fresh wahoo from Costa Rica so we got enough to make several meals over the next couple of days. The name of this fish is really fun to say, wahoo. It sounds like a word of pure joy if spoken slowly and drawn out, waaa hooo! Today I seared two fillets on the stove top with garlic and cilantro. Next time I'll reserve the cilantro for adding at the end of the cooking. Still it was delicious.

Here's the most recent, a jointed tower, about fourteen inches tall. I had to lie it down on a piece of foam to firm it up for a while because it started to sink into itself. The white stoneware clay I'm using has a very long working time. Here's the other side of the tower.

Happy Fourth of July. Oh and check out children's author, Carole Ann Carr's, free ebook promotion. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. That tower is so fun...needs a crooked house to hold it somehow...remember that poem?

  2. I think you are really onto something exciting with these stacked tower designs! I like the slight twist, which makes it look slightly human. One of these could look great in your black glaze perhaps..

  3. I'm amazed at the number of different kinds of fish and seafood you eat. Living in the midwest, we don't ever see many of those varieties.

Hi Mark, thanks, you know I hardly ever use black glaze but I was just thinking that the other day.

Hi Michele, thanks, wahooooo. te he.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, we are so lucky to have such a good fish market near us.

Hi Amy, thanks, it tastes more like mahi mahi or ling cod, not at all like salmon and when it's cooked through the meat turns pure white.
