Confetti Tower with Handle and a Platter

For some reason I'm calling these towers with the droplets of underglaze confetti towers because they remind me of those packages of multicolored confetti. Maybe it should be called melted confetti. Ha. With the handle this one is about 14 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide.

Here's a large platter I played around with a more gestural type of drawing. I think a bolder flower would be better with the muted background. Maybe I'll get a water color sketch book and do some color experiments there. I should be thinking of firing a bisque, but it has been so blisteringly hot I hate to heat up the garage. And rain, we could really use some rain. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

UPDATE - I made some revisions to the platter, here it is:

  1. Hello Linda:
We really do admire your patience and skill in designing these most unusual and interesting pieces. They look particularly good grouped together in the image which you show on your sidebar.

  2. Hi Linda, your Confetti Tower is marvellous, the cut-out section really adds something and makes it so original! Congratulations. What temp' have you fired it to, if you don't mind me asking?

  3. Hi Jane and Lance, thanks so much, I am hoping to get more and more of these to group together, slow going.

Hi Mark, thanks, this tower is greenware, the ones on the sidebar are fired to cone 6 with a clear glaze over the top. I have also used underglazes to cone 10 too. some lighten up at cone 10, like the reds and sometimes yellows, but give them a try.

  4. I think confetti is a perfect description. Splatter sounds too random, like you didn't control the process. And, the plate is charming.

  8. Hi Joanne, thanks, yes I did try to control the process somewhat in a random sort of way. Ha.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, I am glad I went back and changed the plate, I didn't like it at first.

Hi Lori, thanks, yeah sometimes it pays to make revisions. Ha.

  9. Hi Marguerite, thanks, I am liking all the colors lately, can't help myself, we got a bit of rain this morning but barely enough to wet the whistle, maybe tomorrow.
