Steinhatchee

Yesterday Gary and I took a day trip to Steinhatchee, a quaint fishing village on the gulf coast. These are a few photos from that trip. Birds were lined up on top of the sign on this building.

While we were in Steinhatchee we spent some time talking with Clayton "Stickman" Oaks who owns and operates Rustic Creations where his and other artist's locally made wood turning and furniture are showcased. What a colorful life he has led; he once had a restaurant in Panama City Florida and also in Albany, Georgia at the former Collier Casino and Hotel at Radium Springs. He shared his Oyster Stew recipe which I will try real soon and let you know about.
The red palm tree was an eye catcher as we drove by.

We had lunch at Roy's Restaurant on the Steinhatchee River which empties into the gulf. It's scallop season right now in the Florida. Can you believe how many bay scallops I was served? I took more than half of them home. The potato salad at the salad bar was excellent.

Heading back home again. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

It really does sound as if you had a most enjoyable day out at Steinhatchee which looks and sounds to be a most attractive place. And your lunch was obviously delicious.
