Photo Backdrops

Here are the fish platters after the final firing. The fish really do look like they are swimming under water. They have a satin clear glaze over the top.

I took photos of the fish platters with different background colors, (backdrops), just to see if there is a difference in the look. The background color seems to emphasize the color in the platters, interesting to note. The first two are taken outside and the third one inside in a natural lighted room. I like the middle on the best for these.

I'd like to make platters with an even edge so they could be stacked; then I could make a set of them to use as plates. Or I could also make a set of them in different sizes and they could be stacked up like nesting bowls. There I go again thinking up more ideas. Ha. This post is part of the Mud Colony what's happening in the studio. Check out the other blogs and let them know you stopped by. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Gorgeous. I've noticed cameras with automatic color settings do that. Well, maybe all the new digital ones do...make the whole view go to a color. That's why the grey background works best for me too...shows the fish off better.

  2. Taking pictures for the blog always seems to get me. The easiest is to use my iPod but sometimes the colors come out a little yellow. I suspect using a neutral grey background might help that. It seems to work really well for you in these pictures.
The platters look great but the top background is too busy and takes away from them. I think you're right about the grey.

  3. I'm so glad I left the photography to a professional. I don't understand a word being said, but do like the middle photo.

  4. They look so beautiful, and I love that the dominant colours and the impact of the images can with the light.

  6. Hi Barbara, thanks, yeah gray is best, but etsy seems to show off work with white better.

Hi Lori, thanks, yeah too busy.

Hi Joanne, thanks, can't afford a professional so I struggle along.

    Hi Elna, thanks so much.

Hi Elephant's child, thanks, strange how the backgound affects the color isn't it.
