Rustic Boat Shaped Serving Dish

There are lots of boats around here for inspiration. Today the idea popped in my head to make a rustic boat shaped serving dish. In my mind I envisioned the dish constructed with more of the strips of clay I've been using. We'll see how successful I am in translating this idea to the clay. I made a few drawings and I have a few pieces drying in the cabinet.

Did you remember today is a white rabbit day, the first day of the month of November. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Hello Linda:
It will be most interesting to see how these 'boat' dishes translate from the drawing board to the finished product. We do hope that we shall see in a future post.

  2. Rabbit rabbit, yourself! Good idea and I'm glad to see you do inspires me to get back to the sketch book again.

  3. This will be fun to watch you make. Looking forward to it...

Hi Lori, thanks, it isn't easy to remember the rabbit. Ha.

Hi Elna, thanks, and I thought about your miminmalistic environment being the perfect place for one of these shapes too.

Hi Meredith, thanks, November did sneak up on us didn't it.

Hi Julia, thanks, I've meant to make this shape quite some time ago and never did, ideas from the past.

Hi Amy, thanks, oh that's right all saints day too, good to mark the passing of time.

  10. It is the second here - and more than half way though the day as well. Just the same I forgot to say white rabbit yesterday as well.
The boat shape should fit the layered strips really well. I am looking forward to further posts about it.
