Baked Fries and BBQ Wings

We were having company yesterday and they are a meat and potatoes type. So I decided to cook up some baked french fries and some chicken wings. I didn't make up this recipe for baked fries but found it on Pinterest. You can click the link to be taken to my pins in several categories. Basically if you see something you like you can pin it to a virtual board to come back to later, like the baked fries recipe. Careful this website can be addicting.

Baked fries and BBQ wings are a new favorite. For the potatoes slice them into uniform slices and soak them in salted water for 30 minutes. Drain and dry the potatoes very well (otherwise they may not brown in the oven). After the potatoes are dry brush them with some olive oil and brush bottom of pan with olive oil. Sprinkle them with a little salt and pepper and bake in a 400 F oven till they are brown about 40 minutes. They are delicious and much less olive oil needs to be used than if you had fried them. I can't wait to try sweet potato fries this way.

For the chicken wings I just used a commercial sauce, Stubbs BBQ, which is the only one I am sure is gluten free. I poured it on half of them and the other half I used a commercial Caribbean Condiment, Pirate's Blend, which was delicious. It's put out by Half Moon Bay Trading Company. I'll have to check out their other sauces as this one was excellent. Since we are out of propane for our gas grill, I baked the wings in the oven at 350 F for one hour.   3. Have you tried the frozen chicken wings from Costco? They come in a variety of flavors - Tequila Lime, Honey BBQ, Rotisserie Grilled, etc. I bake them for 20 minutes in a 400 F oven. Thanks for the recipe for baked potatoes.

  4. I've never made wings. Are they good that way? I know what you mean about Pinterest being addictive, but it sure has helped me organize and keep track of all the cool things I find online!

  5. Lucky guests! We love chicken wings....they're a summer thing here as we like to do them on the grill. I seem to forget about them over the winter.

    I love roasted sweet potatoes . They cook a lot faster than white potatoes.

  6. Jeff and I both love wings and like Smartcat, we seem to only grill them in the summer. I going try the baked fries recipe and agree that sweet potatoes would be excellent.

  7. Grilled chicken wings are so good. The candles in Lucia's hair is normal candles. You may have a good third Sunday of Advent.

  9. Hi Gigi, thanks, I try to stay away from pre-prepared foods with addititives, plus Costco is about an hour from us. I think I had them a few years back and like them then, but nowadays I have changed my eating habits.

  10. We do sweet potatoes the same way, but cut in wedges. Keep an eye on them for over-browning. I bake em on foil or parchment to simplify cleanup. And, try adding a bit of cayenne or hot chili oil when you toss them with the olive oil, salt, and pepper.
