Mama Don't Take My Kodachrome Away or Travel Back In Time With Me

Linda Starr on San Francisco Ferry 1975

We got ourselves an early Christmas present. We found a used slide projector and we got it. We both have hundreds of kodachrome slides to go through. I hope you won't mind traveling back in time with us each Sunday. Today we're in San Francisco and it's 1975; I'm on the ferry cross the bay.

The slides are projected on the wall and I'm taking a photo of them with my digital camera so they are blurry  I hope to find a way to make them clearer because on the wall they are wonderful. I can either use a tripod or take some of them and have them converted to digital photos. I'll be working on that. In the meantime today is just a teaser traveling back in time. Gary found his Vietnam and Taiwan slides and films too.

As you can see we have hundreds of slides to go through. Next time I hope to have the photos in focus for you to travel back in time with us.

I saw slide boxes labeled with Hawaii, Mexico, Lake Tahoe, Lake Laginatas, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Starship, Renaisance Fair, and so much more. So stay tuned for more to come. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  6. For little over a hundred dollars you can buy a scanner that scans slides, negative images and all kinds of photos. I got a Canon; and spent last year going through a bazillion slides and strips of color negatives. Kodachrome was wonderful, and now we need to digitize it before it disintigrates.
You probably met my daughter at a Grateful Dead concert.
    Have a wonderful Christmas.

  9. Hi GC, thanks, I saw some projectors listed on ebay, if you get one make sure you have the correct tray for the projector there are different models. I wish I had one of the stacking trays it would make watching and sorting them much easier.

Hi Meredith, thanks so much, it was fun and interesting ha.

Hi Teresa, thanks, oh I was so young and pretty back then, if only I could find the fountain of youth.

Hi Michele, thanks, yes great fun, has us longing to travel again.

Hi Joanne, thanks, we may have to save up for one of those scanners since we have so many slides. Those concerts were free in golden gate park, those were the days.
