One Dollar a Gallon with Fuel Perks

Gary took some photos at the Christmas Art Fair car show we went to last weekend.

We recently started getting our groceries at Winn Dixie and have been getting fuel perks. Last time we filled up we only paid one dollar a gallon. We saved $46 dollars or got $2.30 off per gallon for the fill up of up to twenty gallons. Click the link to learn more. Have a good weekend. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Love the pickup! We have fuel perks here, up to 15 gallons, but the best I've done is 30 cents off per gallon. These perks do make a difference!

  2. I found a way for my 1 ton Chevy van to get an effective 35 mpg on those trips to Tennessee. I take my brother and he buys half the gas!

  4. I guess everyone is a cost saver. I don't grocery shop, but have a little tag that puts points on my sister's account the few times I'm in the grocery store. Best of all, we use different drug store chains, where we now must have those stinkin' little tags to get sale prices. At the register of her store, if I'm ever there, I give the phone number and she gets the points. At my store she gives me the points. Take that, corporate America.

  5. We have a grocer store nearby that has fuel rewards, the only problem is that their prices are a lot higher than other stores. They are the closest store to us so I often go just to avoid the hassle of driving further or going to (gasp) Wallyworld.

  6. We all need to save on fuel costs don't we. And they seem to be getting higher all the time and ours DEFINITELY go up for public holidays. Sigh.

  7. Hi Linda,
Out of interest I did a whole lot of calculations with currency and litres to gallons, and worked out what we pay for our fuel here in US$ per US gallon, and it was, um, rather a lot... currently US$6.75 or NZ$ 8.11 Now I am wishing I hadn't worked it out! Love the red E type Jaguar, a real classic like something out of James Bond!

  8. seems like a great discount Linda. Here in NSW a couple of supermarkets have deals with a couple of chains of fuel suppliers. I think they put their base price up as you can still get cheaper petrol elsewhere.
    I wouldn't mind a ride in that E type :^)

  9. I love all the old cars and pickups. Wonder what the price of gas was in their day?! A couple of years ago I made a clay version of an old pickup truck.

  10. Hi Teresa, thanks, our fuel perks are up to 20 gallons and we look for the bonus points to up the perks.

Hi Dennis, thanks, if only we had someone to share the fuel. Ha.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, every little bit helps.

Hi Michele, thanks, we only buy the items that are on sale or store brands, some things we have to get at a grocery and the drive to wallyworld is 20 miles round trip so that adds to the cost if we go there.

Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, yes it seems the cost always goes up on holidays, what a bunch of hooey.

Hi Peter, thanks, if we had those costs for fuel here we wouldn't be able to drive anywwhere. The poor get poorer and the rich well you know.

Hi Anna, thanks, everyone has a scheme it seems.

Hi Gayle, thanks, I think fuel was 25 cents a gallon in the early 1960s.
