A Walk on the Beach

Yesterday morning we took a walk on the beach near our home. The beach is at Fort Island in Crystal River. There's a board walk through what's just like a jungle really. This leads to a fishing and observation pier and a covered pavilion with picnic tables. There's a sandy beach nearby with a large swimming area and a boat launch at the end of the road.

That's a bald eagle sunning itself in a tree. Nearby we discovered a nest and made a plan to come back in the Spring to see if the eagle is nesting. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  2. Hi Linda, we would have needed snow shoes to get to the nearest beach yesterday, and then whether we could walk there or not would have depended on where the tide way. Besides, it was cold, but not like the 4 degrees this morning. Best Wishes for 2013..

  3. Glad to see you enjoying the Florida environment. Is the beach on fresh water since it fronts the river? Great to see eagles I think. Whoo-hoo!

  7. Thanks everyone for your comments, we had a nice time relaxing at the shore, the tide was out so we saw more than we normally do with seashells and tiny crabs.

The beach boat launch is on the river, but the beach is on the gulf so it is salt water, it was almost 75 in the morning.

I could have called this post footsteps in the sand, I loved seeing the tiny foot prints and was wondering which critter made them, a raccoon? a possum?

  8. Wonderful walk you took us on - thank you. I loved the footprints, the shells and the view but the bald eagle nest blew me away. (They look as if their housekeeping is no tidier than mine :)
