Mason Stains Found After 3 Years

Sometimes when you move, things disappear never to reappear again. But sometimes things disappear and miraculously appear. After three years of wondering what happened to all the mason stains I ordered in California, I finally know. I found them in an unopened box on the bottom shelf of my kiln cart. They were at the back hidden by posts and glaze mixing supplies. I also found two thermocouples. Doesn't say much for my organization skills. Ha. Nice to know I have them for my next studio. I mix mason stains in clay slip and brush designs on green clay. Then I bisque fire the pieces. Next they get a clear glaze and are fired again. For more details about the process I use to make the slip and mix the stains go to this link.

In other news our dryer broke. Gary looked on the internet to see what the trouble might be. It suggested it could be a fuse or the belt. The belt was tight so he got a new fuse and put it in and now it works again. The fuse was $21 but well worth it. It's supposed to get up to 100 here today, what happened to our Spring. Every time we've moved it's been really hot. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  5. You are lucky to have Gary, I must say...a man who knows how to fix things makes him worth his weight in gold. I just realized (talking to another Gary) that I'll be going to FL for about a week in the beginning of June...and need a cat sitter. Want to stay here, or will you already be further along your trails by then?

  7. It seems you can always count on having lousy weather for moving day!
It will be raining or snowing or blowing or hot.

  8. Good that you found them, so now where do you plan to lose them;-)
I do hope you get to use before you lose.

  9. This is exactly one of the things I look forward to when I do a big clean. Sunday I found a shoe that had been missing for months! A few weeks ago i found a light in my studio that I didn't even remember I had bought. Definitely not a testament to my cleaning and organizational talents, but at least I have pleasant surprises when I have to clean!

  11. Nice to hear that I am not alone. There are things that have not surfaced after our last move, and other things which disappeared when we had the kitchen revamped. I wonder where they are, and when they will surface.
You seem to be moving ahead in leaps and bounds now.

Hi Barbara, thanks, I am not sure where we'll be in June, We are going to try to get to North Carolina at the beginning of summer and then head up the coast, I'll keep you posted. We'd have a motorhome perhaps there is an RV park near Black Mountain?

Hi Michele, thanks, yes at least it's labeled now. Ha.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, oh yes mother nature often makes either the best or worst of those days.

Hi Lori, thanks, good thing is they are dry and keep well.

Hi Jennie, thanks, oh I am having a lot of fun packing and rediscovering too many things I forgot I bought, I feel a little ashamed of myself.

Hi Midori, thanks, yes thank goodness they are as good as new in the box.

Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, we have no time to loose now must get real busy.

Hi Kitty, thanks, abracadabra, what a great word been years since I heard it but love the very sound of the syllables.

Hi Dee, thanks, I hope I find my missing inheritance some day. Once in the middle of the dessert at an old abandoned gas station we were photographing, the wind was blowing and low and behold a $20 bill was lying in the sand right in front of me, I felt so lucky that day to find it just lying there in wait. Those $20 often turn up at just the right time, like magic, as Kitty says abracadabra.
