Miracles Do Happen

Thankfully this week we sold all the heavy stuff. The large and bulky furniture is now gone which will make moving much easier. Our sectional sofa, dining table, and dining hutch were very heavy; now our minds are  lighter knowing they're gone.

We're especially happy all our furniture went to good homes, please keep reading for the miracle.

We also sold our patio table which we had moved into the kitchen because we already sold our dinette table. We ate dinner at a fold up table tonight, happy to do so. Ha.

The gentleman who bought our dining room furniture and patio table had me counting my blessings today, a reminder to me to stay in the present while looking forward. Some years ago he was working on a scaffold 68 feet in the air and all the welds on the scaffold broke and he fell to the ground. He broke his neck and back and wasn't expected to live. But he was alive and was air lifted to a trauma hospital. He was so precarious they couldn't operate on his injuries for two weeks. The doctors said he'd most likely be paralyzed from the neck down for life. Somehow they stabilized him and eventually repaired his neck and back. After many surgeries and complications, one being a small stroke, he's made a full recovery. I think he is living proof miracles do happen. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. How lovely that the gentleman who bought your furniture beat the odds in that way.
And you must be starting to get soooo excited now. When do you hope to leave?

  4. Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, I was so inspired by having met this man and he was so up about everything and calm in a certain way if you know what I mean. We close on the 15th of May and then will stay here a few weeks to get our affairs in order then we head out to destinations to be determined.

Hi Mark, thanks, yes never give up, you just never know do you, we are looking forward to a great adventure.

Hi Dennis, thanks, yes a miracle would be best for sure. I keep hoping to win the lottery but no such luck, of course I have to play to win and never play. Ha.

  5. I agree that life is filled with many miracles. Being able to sell a property in this economy is one, and then having the furniture move along so smoothly and to such good homes is another. I hope that this resolution of issues helps your health to improve. Nothing like stress to cause old symptoms to kick it up a notch. Moving and making a fresh start is both stressful and exciting.

Once you get going, this is a wonderful time of year to follow spring north. Maine has been chilly this spring but by the time you get this far north, it will be resplendent in such greens as to delight the soul.

    Best Wishes.

  6. glad things are getting you closer to your goal.
My brother broke his neck while playing softball (similar to baseball). He collided with the guy running to get him out. Lots of things came together to make his full recovery a miracle, including the fact the ambulance station was right across the road!

  7. What a great story. Yes, miracles do happen. Wow, you are off on another great adventure, how exciting. It sounds as if everything is coming together quite nicely. We were planning a move to the Carolinas a few years ago, and visited there often. It didn't work out...but I love both N. and S. Carolina. How freeing it must feel to get rid of all large furnishings and "stuff" that weighs one down. I haven't done it yet, but need to and am struggling right now with the sheer volume of the task.

  16. Happy Travelling. A journey North sounds a great adventure! I'm sitting here with Ginger snoring gently on my lap (he was out catching rats last night.....), and I'm thinking how some people stay put, and the home surrounds them like a favourite woollen jersey, with elbows patched, and the shape all stretched to fit them; whilst other people settle for a while, then spring comes, and the season brings with it a surge of excitement, and the promise of something new... The great thing is that both sorts of people make this life of ours, rich and wonderful. The stay at homers provide places of safety and stability, and those who travel bring a sparkle and freshness.
Our very best wishes to you both. P & L

Hi Peter, thanks, I guess all the traveling around when I was a child gave me the wanderlust. We'd like to keep our home base, but we can't afford to do both and we want to travel before we are too old or decrepit.

Hi Gigi, thanks, here, there and everywhere you are so right.
