Our New Neighbors, Guinea Hens

Yesterday we found an RV park to stay in for one month while we get our travel plans in order. The park, Thousand Palms RV Resort, is on the banks of the Withlacoochee River. These two guinea hens will be our new neighbors in one week; the photo is grainy because I took it from the campground office through the screen door.

There is a river boat launch there so we'll be able to take our boat; a maiden voyage may be in store for us yet. We've had several calls but haven't sold it yet. Our boat is a MirroCraft 12 foot aluminum boat with a tilt trailer so it can be launched from seawall if need be. The motor is a 5 1/2 Johnson outboard that has been freshly gone through. Below is what the boat looked like when we got it around Christmas.

More photos and details about the resort coming soon. This post is part of Mud Colony what's happening in the studio. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Hip hip hoorah! Boating on the Withlacoochee River, and camping with Guinea hens...sounds like a great plan. Of course it's possible you will sell the boat as you're toodling around in it.

  2. I haven't seen Guinea hens in years. I used to work at a greenhouse that had tons of Guinea hens running around. My boss said the Guineas were his watch dogs. Linda you've brought back many fond memories!

  3. I always thing Guinea hens look like balloons on legs. That looks like a pretty area you're going to be in.

Nice that you will get some voyages in the boat you have worked so hard on.

  7. Both the boat and the guinea fowl look brilliant. I have my fingers crossed that you will enjoy her maiden voyage - and then sell her well.

  8. You have got lots to do! Are going to sell the house, too? Guinea fowl are strange looking birds with beautiful feathers!
