Dragon Fruit Delight

As I walked by the produce section at the grocery store I spied a beautiful magenta and green fruit in a basket. A sign said dragon fruit, pitaya. I decided to purchase one thinking something this lovely on the outside must be just as wonderful on the inside.

I researched the fruit and learned the pink portion is not edible and should be avoided. So I cut the fruit in half and decided to scoop the interior with a spoon.

The fruit has a delightful creamy pear flavor with a texture somewhat like a kiwi with tiny blue black edible seeds.

Have you tried any new foods lately? Did you discover you liked them? Please let me know I'd like to try them too. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. I adore dragons - and so couldn't resist dragon fruit when I first saw them. And now they are a staple in my Christmas fruit salad.

  2. Have seen them in Thailand, but never tried them. Creamy pears sounds yummy!
