Spend four days with master potter Tom Coleman, who will share his experiences and philosophy on working as a clay artist for the last 45 years.  On the evening of the 5th he will first present a slide show of his past and present work and give us a brief history of his involvement with porcelain as a medium.  On Thursday 6th he will throw several functional and decorative forms, creating altered pieces.  There will be ongoing discussion and demonstration of different decorating techniques.  On Friday the 7th Tom will assemble the pieces produced the day before, and will discuss various ways of formulating porcelain clay bodies and slips.  He will also go over his glazes and how they are applied.  Talk will touch on how to approach marketing your work and how to take good professional quality photographs of your work for consideration in magazines, books, and entry in fairs and shows. For those interested there will be an opening of the Anagama kiln and the historical Ralph Howard Phillips Groundhog kiln in Navarre on Saturday. Visit our website for more information.
