Eat Your Colors & a Strange Creature

Sometimes the grocery store is lacking in fresh vegetables or perhaps they're priced too high. For times like those I stock up on frozen vegetables. You know how it's said eat your colors; well I'm trying to stick to that plan. I picked up this package of a medley of vegetables and they were quite good and definitely colorful. I've served them with swordfish and black rice. Gary got the swordfish when he was in Florida a few weeks ago. I made some of my linaise sauce to drizzle over the top. Click on the link for the recipe for linaise sauce.

Since it's just the two of us, we had left over rice and vegetables and a little sauce too. I mixed them all together for another meal. I had a taste and it's really good and also colorful.

While I was making dinner this strange creature showed up in the studio. Ha. Not quite sure what it is but it broke in half when I moved it. I may just crumple it up. It looks like a cross between an armadillo and a rat but it has a curly tail. Every once in a while it's good to let your hair down in the studio. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Hello Linda:

We love the idea of adding colour as an important part of the food which we eat. This all looks most attractive and we are sure tastes good as well.

  2. I knew someone who's kitchen motto was "cook by color." She made some delicious meals.

  3. Years and years and years ago, when I was considerably poorer, and raising two daughters, my nutrition standard was three colors made a meal.

  4. I buy frozen veggies like those, too and agree with you about having something colorful on your plate every day, if possible.
It will be interesting to see what you do with that clay.

  5. Hooray for colour. And for weird and wonderful beasties.

  6. Hi Jane and Lance, thanks, I think it's rather amazing that the colors of the food denote the quality of the nutrition and lovely to see the color you eat as well.

Hi Joanne, thanks, another good motto, three colors makes a meal.

Hi Lori, thanks, oh I like that motto; something to said for that.

Hi Gigi, thanks, oh it's falling apart even more, must go into the recycle bin I think.

Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, strange beastie indeed.
