Revisions

Sometimes things just aren't quite there. Do you ever feel that way when you make something? This is the second revision. Still not sure about the bird.

This was the first draft, didn't like the bow after an hour so I removed it and added the bird in the nest. The bow and bird came about because the textured rim I made wasn't long enough to go all the way around. The rim started out as a handle which might have been better. What you see in the finished product of a clay piece isn't always how it started. Much like a painting that may have many revisions so it is with clay sometimes. Still thinking about it but this morning it may be too late to revise again. The electrician finally got the plug for my kiln. Soon, soon. Thanks for reading and  for all your comments.

  1. The bow was okay, but the bird really adds that extra zing!

  2. Hi Suzi, thanks, the bow was too big. For some reason I was thinking of a square box or something modern but what it should have never came to me and now to dry to add anything, not everything turns out like I envision, oh well. can't wait my studio is filled up with greenware.

  3. Definitely like the bird instead of the bow. Glad to hear your kiln installation is moving along.

  4. I agree about the bird. I'd also like to see a little shadow at the foot, it would give it lift and make it look lighter. Of course you may already have this in your plans for the piece.

  5. Hi Michele, thanks, the wheels of progress move so slowly, after we sealed the driveway we realized no one could drive on it so electrician was delayed a week.

  6. Hi Lori, thanks, no I didn't plan that but it's probably too late to add a riser to the foot, next time, but I appreciate the feedback.

  7. Oh yes, work in progress...at least as long as the clay is damp. But you've still got the fun of glaze to do. YAy on getting kiln going. I know that will help your production of beautiful things!

  10. Best part of the process is discovery and the interaction between the work and maker. It must be exciting to get your kiln up and running!

  11. Hi Barb, thanks, things are piling up around here, hope it comes quickly.

Hi Rian, thanks, we'll see how I glaze it.

Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, not sure how they'll get it up this driveway.

Hi Charlene, thanks, we have to figure out what size truck will come as our driveway will only accommodate up to a 26 foot box truck, hope we can work it out. the clay often dictates to me, I just need to listen closely.
