Stone Patio Project

We've taken a slight detour to a stone patio project. There's a lot of stone in North Georgia and North Carolina and it's fairly inexpensive. It was less expensive for us to get the stone in Murphy, North Carolina.

We got half a pallet of flat stones and we're placing the stone on a bed of sand. Later we'll fill the crevices with a concrete mix and add a few pieces of broken pottery shards as accents.

The patio leads to the lower section of our home where the pottery studio is. Stay tuned to see the final patio some time in the future. This is slow work since our old bones only allow us to do small sections at a time. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. What a project!
When we moved here, mom was in her seventies. She budgeted for and bought a load of bricks. Then she leaned on her cane and directed her grandson how to lay them in a bed of sand in a herringbone pattern, under the deck. That was almost thirty years ago; it's still a beautiful piece of work.
For years, every time we budgeted for some purchase we referred to it as our brick fund.

  2. Golly, you all are industrious. (Or insane perhaps!) But it will be beautiful...and don't hurt yourselves doing it...taking it slow and easy is the way to go.
