Three Trout Platters

Yesterday I went to exchange my clay a shorter drive over the mountain. Luckily it was frosty in the valleys but not on the mountain top.

When ever we drive over the mountain on Richard Russel Parkway we always remember the river otters we saw and now call the curve in the road where we saw them, Otter Curve. Gary was wondering what otter eat and I said I am sure it's fish, probably trout in the streams. I also remember the baby bear cub I saw which was hopefully rescued from starvation by my calling Fish and Game about him.

When I got home I was thinking about what the river otters eat and I made three trout platters, a brook trout, a brown trout, and a rainbow trout. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

    Yesterday evening we dined wonderfully well on trout......if only they had been served in such style!

    1. Hi Keith, thanks, I think the best trout I ever had was when I caught it in the mountains fresh from the lake and I stuffed it with lemon and wrapped it with bacon and cooked it over the campfire. oh so good.

  4. Yummy, I am now "hankering after" some fresh trout. And if it weren't so far to get to the Pisgah Inn Restaurant up on the Parkway I'd probably have it soon. Lovely trout platters!

  5. Hi Barb, thanks, sounds like a good recommendation for a restaurant. The best restaurant trout I ever had was in Bishop California, can't remember the restaurant but it was local caught and it had a margarita sauce with it, boy was it good. Years ago when I fished a lot I used to have a smoker, called a Little Chief and I would smoke trout, that was good too. now I'm hungry for trout too. ha

  7. Hi Suzi, thanks, we may get a light dusting o snow too but will also have lots of black ice. I used lobster, chartreuse, chestnut, oh and some yellow underglaze and a small amount of black slip. We shall see how these turn out since I overlapped some of the colors.

  11. Love the irridescence you have captured. As a child we followed my father along the river banks (with a frypan) in his search for brown and rainbow trout...
