Isn't it neat the way snow shows the sculpted terrain of mountains through the trees? Otherwise the ground kind of blends with the trunks and you can't see how those hollows and ridges are shaped.
Hi Barb, thanks, yes the signts in winter are totally different than other times especially with the snow outlining the trees and ground, sculpting it. we can almost see the roads on that mountain, it is an OHV park (off highway vehicle) which we plan to go on next month when it reopens.
That's a very pretty winter wonderland.I love your bird platter. The title of my first book is "Like a Joyful Bird."
Hi Gigi, thanks, oh what a lovely title so glad you mentioned it here. I can only imagine the contents of the book.
We don’t have any snow here in Atlanta yet but it’s supposed to be coming this afternoon. I’m hoping to get a glaze kiln fired before I leave for Penland next Sat. Let’s both keep our fingers crossed for nice weather soon.
Hi Lori, thanks, next week is supposed to be warm, up to the 60s, I am gearing up for that so I am sure you'll be able to fire then too. Gary just told me we're supposed to get more snow today, we shall see if it comes or passes us by. At least we're stocked up on food, my pot of beans are cooking.
LOVE these pictures of your winter wonderland :) snow is so beautiful.
Hi Keith, thanks, it's just started snowing again, might as well have the added insulation of the snow if it's cold.
I would say "poor you" but up here in the Great White North we've had the coldest February on record with nights all month going to -20C (not sure what that is in F but it's COLD). I'm so looking forward to March/April. Enjoy the snow while it lasts. Maybe it will inspire more great art from you?
Hi Ronna, thanks, I am actually loving the white wonderland, weather definitely repeats itself, I guess the 1800s had similar weather and I am assuming the ice ages were the same, pretty soon we'll have warmer than normal years and the pendulum swings back again the other way
The snow looks beautiful when one can sit inside by the fire and look out at it. Crazy winter weather everywhere. Dallas got snow and it is still snowing. Here in Austin we got snow in the hill country, and ice in quite a few places. It's been this cold since Monday.Linda, when I was growing up in Idaho, we called frozen fog pogonip. My Dad had a friend who was Shoshoni Indian and he told us that is what they called it. We've always called it that and it was very prevalent in the Western mountains. Most everyone there called it that. I love the word, and whenever it gets foggy, I still say "Oh I hope we get a pogonip". HaHaIt's probably called other things in different parts of the country.
Hi Barbara, thanks, oh I love the term pogonip for frozen fog, in the West when we got snow we never had fog so I never knew about frozen fog, here in the south I guess it's more prevalent. I love learning what native american cultures labeled events of nature as I have missed so much of that with my relatives, thanks again.
It certainly makes wonderful pictures. I can visualize freezing fog; all the moisture in the air. I wonder if freezes and perfectly encapsulates what it freezes around.
Hi Joanne, thanks, I suspect the windshield of a car could become hazardous, everything here is all closed up, safety first I guess; today's snow has just started and it's coming down like a banshee; good news is I hope I don't have to go to training at the gallery for the new square credit card system. ha.
That snow is coming our way....ugh.
Hi Meredith, thanks, we got a ton of it, well maybe 8 inches, it does look pretty and it is quiet. We sold our snow shovels in Florida of all places. ha.
Keep cuddling the kitties and keep warm. :)
Hi Lee, thanks, the kittens have cabin fever just like us.
The snow is beautiful but out of place...the poor weather is topsy turvy lately. Stay warm and be careful on those mountain roads.
Hi Dee, thanks, we aren't going anywhere, our driveway is too steep and the snow is very slippery.
I love suggestions, questions, critiques, thanks for your comment
