Wall Pocket Tile

Here's an experimental wall pocket tile from the latest firing. I didn't hang it on the wall because I didn't want to put more holes in the wall or the posts outside. The two holes I've provided will make the piece stable mounted on an exterior wall even in the wind.

Basically this is a tile with a pocket for flowers or a plant. I purposely designed the piece asymmetrically. I plan to make more of these. This piece is glazed with the same glaze used on the large bowl and the yunomi in the previous post. All three turned out completely different. This wall pocket tile was on the bottom shelf, the yunomi on the middle shelf and the bowl on the top shelf. Stay tuned for more new work. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. When trying to decide how to hang stuff sometimes I just say screw it.

  2. Hi Dennis, thanks, yes a screw out of doors is perfect especially since a if nailing with the tile behind the hammer I might slip and hit that tile. Ha.

  3. Hi Suzi, thanks so much. I still have to test it to be sure it holds water.if not only a potted plant could go in there. Ha.

  5. Hi Barb, thanks, it looks better with a flower or plant in it I may have to get some artificial something or other when I display them.

  7. I am always partial to wall pockets~~~a air plant would be great and to avoid nails, holes, etc the new command items are great~~~~very nice piece :)

  9. Sweet! It would look lovely with small branches, too. Or lotus or poppy pod?

  10. Linda, I think that's a really cute idea. We've been looking for something to hang on our front door that can take the place of the Merry Christmas sign we *just* took down. Something that would hold a few flowers might be a good idea for spring/summer.

    1. Hi Rian, thanks, yes I could hang on a front door I wonder and the opening and closing of the door if it would tend to bang against it - might be better next to the door.
