A Spider Sized Meal

Here is a bold jumper spider, Phidippus audax, munching on a true bug, Hemiptera. Have you ever come upon one of these jumper spiders? They usually jump away and you can't get a close look at them, but this time, since this one was eating, he stayed put so I could take his photos. He was on the side of the house and Gary spotted him and told me so I ran out to get a photo. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. I haven't seen one. I must investigate and see whether we get them. Excellent photo.

    1. Hi Sue, thanks, I've seen them here and in California, rather common, they can see quite well and jump away if you look too close.

    1. Hi Turquoisemoon, thanks, well without the spiders we'd have more bugs. Ha.

  5. At a wood firing up at Hambidge we watched a spider drag a wasp across the area in front of the kiln, across a path then up the side of a cabin. I thought I made a video of some of it but it didn’t turn out.
    Spiders are really fascinating creatures.
