Posey Pot or Bud Vase or Michelin Man

At the farmer's market this past weekend someone asked me for a posey pot. Wasn't quite sure what that was, then they said it's for a single rose. Oh a bud vase. I only had one so I decided to make some more. These are all about three to four inches tall. Gary says they look like the michelin man.

Quite some time ago I decided to try a bag of dark brown clay, Standard 266. Even though it's been on a shelf quite a while it's still very workable, although it does stain my hands and everything else quite a bit. We shall see how it fires up. Things are taking longer to dry because it's the time of year we open our windows at night and close them in the morning and don't use the air conditioning. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. I have a couple of bud vases, too, but rarely use them.

    1. Hi Gigi, thanks, when I had my gardens in California I used them quite a bit, love bringing in a single rose that is fragrant and putting it by the bedside or in the bathroom on the counter and then I can occasionally pick it up and enjoy the fragrance.

  2. Good idea...I've got bud vases and it's amazing who wants to buy one.

    1. Hi Barb, thanks, my flower garden is coming along fine and I hope to be able to bring a few flowers to the market and display them in bud vases; even leaves or weeds look good in a small pot.

  3. I would think bud vases (either tall and thin or short and fat) would be a good seller (inexpensive and something everyone could use).
And as for dark red clay, although I do like the fired product, I don't like working with it... messy (when throwing I end up looking like someone who just rolled around in the Mississippi mud).

    1. Hi Rian, thanks, I don't get too awful red but my hands get red but it does wash off easily.

  4. Gary should never had said "Michelin Man", now that's all I see. Although I don't think they look like it once they are fired!

    1. Hi Michele, thanks, they don't really look like it all that much but kind of I guess, only Gary thinks of these things.
