Painting Class

You know I don't need any other projects but a local church offers classes at a very reasonable price. The program is called OASIS - Outstanding Adults Sharing in Service. Adults proficient in arts or crafts donate their time to teach others. Last winter I took a caning class. Several weeks ago I signed up for a painting class. The class meets once a week and yesterday afternoon was my first class.

An old weathered local barn is my inspiration from a photograph I took. The scene is in late autumn so the sky is streaked gray and the grasses have turned their winter colors. The trees and barn are roughed in; there will be lots of changes before I'm finished. If you like I'll show you my progress. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  4. Hi Michele, thanks, and it's only about three miles from my home and I am forced to take a "break" from the clay.

  5. Of course we want to watch the barn come along. Good start.

    1. Hi Joanne, thanks, old barns really appeal to me, so many metal buildings nowadays.

  6. Great idea, getting a different creative bent going. Good luck with the paint (acrylic?)

    1. Hi Barb, thanks, yes acrylic, in the class we can actually use both but I figured acrylic is easier clean up.

  8. I would LOVE to see your progress. And suspect you will learn things which will help in your work and your passion for clay too.

  9. Hi Sue, thanks, Gary really does wish I had a lighter in weight art I could bring to the public and much of the time I do too.
