Confessions of an Errant Potter

I confess it has been over six months since I fired my kiln. Why am I suddenly motivated to load the kiln on one of the hottest days of the year? When I went down to the studio I noticed a piece of driftwood had fallen off the counter onto a bowl which was sitting on a box drying. Not sure how the driftwood fell on it's own, Wonder if Barney was down there one day? Except he never jumps on anything. Hum. Perhaps studio ghosts have been rummaging around.

On the right are four baskets which will have driftwood handles. On the left are miscellaneous pieces I've been working on the past few months. Thunderstorms are predicted today so hopefully I'll be able to fire this bisque load tomorrow. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Linda, glad you're firing again. But I haven't worked with clay since May. It's strange, but I think creative urges come in spurts. Sometimes I really want to knit, or crochet, or quilt... and will go at it for months, then the urge is suddenly gone...??

    1. Hi Rian, thanks, this is the longest I have gone without attending to clay, cooking, gardening and health issues have taken a front seat, we shall see.

  3. Your pottery is beautiful and quite unique - I like that a lot. The weaved basket (at least I think that's what it could be) in the second picture looks fabulous! I hope you got to fire all of them!

  4. Hi Carola, thanks, yes that is a woven bowl, kind of rusticly formed (some pieces fell off, ha), checking the weather for today.

  5. The blue wavy bowl looks nice. Good to fire your work now and then, even on a hot day.

  6. Hi Gigi, thanks, would you believe I have a problem with my electricity so had to turn off the ac just to get the kiln to climb in temp. Electric guys will come back at 3:30 to put in a new upgraded transformer. Lucky I noticed it due to the kiln controller being so sensitive.
