Alligator. Leaf Plates, and Pizza

Not sure if you can see the outline of the alligator on this platter. I have a commission for an alligator platter or a sculpture. I thought I'd start out with the platter and then move on to the sculpture. I plan on making several prototypes to see which ones I like. I start out with a sketch of the alligator and I trace the outline on the clay. Next I'll use ceramic stains to color the alligator sketch. After bisque firing I'll put a clear glaze over the top.

In my last post I mentioned I almost completely out of leaf plates. I am trying to replenish my supply before the winter chill sets in and the leaves are no longer useable.

Meanwhile I have a gluten free pizza in the oven. I've been running up and down between the studio and the kitchen trying to stay on top of things. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. I can see the alligator when I enlarged the photo.. but not before. Can't wait to see the finished platter!

  5. I love your leaf plates! Good to get a good supply done before the leaves are gone.

  7. Hi Michele, thanks, that's what I'm doing, hard to find large enough leaves, I have put some in zip lock baggies to hopefully keep them soft till tomorrow.
