Wood You Believe It?

Not like I need another project, but I'm branching out. My ongoing plan to pay off medical bills has me painting on wood. 'Wood' you believe it? Pinterest inspired this blue mule.

Now that this black bear has dried I might add more color to lighten up his coat. Maybe some trees? What do you think about my adding a clear coat after I'm finished painting? Can you recommend what I should use?

Here's a stack of the cedar wood. I still have three more panels to paint. I also have several other varieties of wood to cut up and use. I'm thinking of hanging these wood panels with wire or rope. What do you think? Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Great idea, and paint looks the way it will be when finished, unlike glazes that change so much in firing! There's a non-glossy poly finish that I like on wood, which keeps it from absorbing water.

  2. Hi Barbara, thanks, what a good idea, I don't like the idea of glossy, will check it out.

  3. Love to see you branching out. I would lean towards hanging them with rope rather than wire - it fits the natural theme better.
