Moonlight

The Trash to Treasures sale is Friday so I am trying get as many of these completed as I can before then. One of my readers said I should hang these with rope. I had already made a trip to the store and purchased some cotton sisal rope. Great minds think alike. I plan to drill two holes in the top and knot the rope through the holes on the front; the hanging mechanism will exit the back. I even have some felt pads to put on the back of these. Haven't gotten any top coating yet, we shall see how that goes.

Yesterday Gary and I cut up the remainder of the wood I had stashed into manageable and paintable sizes. I have cedar, oak, walnut, and spalted maple boards to paint on. These first few have been on cedar wood. Wood really takes a lot of paint to cover unlike canvas. I may have to get a few more paint supplies. Gary said I should paint some funny sayings on these but I just can't bring myself to do that. I like the natural wood showing around the paintings without mucking it up.

I was going to paint a picture of a white rabbit on this cedar board, but it had a wood knot. I decided to paint a moon over the knot. Then the piece became a snowy scene in the forest. Speaking of moonlight; did you know a total solar eclipse is coming this month? Blairsville, Georgia, (yep right where I live) is supposed be the best viewing location in the United States. Every motel and cabin is rented for the event on that day. More about the eclipse in future posts. Just remember you must wear special glasses to look at the eclipse otherwise you could become blind.

White Rabbit to you all today. Back to painting. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  2. Hi Barbara, thanks, it's been rather cool in the mornings the last couple of days and the goldenrod is blooming; it may be an early winter.
