Rooster Spur and Cayenne Peppers

While I was manning the booth I sent Gary shopping for vegetables for the week at the farmer's market. One of the items on the list was some small hot red peppers I could dry. Gary came back with these which are called rooster spur and are supposedly hotter than a cayenne with more flavor. They are a Mississippi heirloom pepper traditionally used to make red pepper sausage. I'll clip these off the stems and let them dry and then store them for soups and stews over the winter.

And he also bought me some of these cayenne peppers. I've never tried either of these varieties to dry, we shall see how hot they are in what I cook this winter.

It's Labor Day today and the folks laboring after Hurricane Harvey deserve many thanks. None of them or those affected will get any days off for a very long time; they are selflessly making their contributions to the well being of our country. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

    1. Hi Barbara, thanks, too many are under paid nowadays; even our retirement isn't enough but I can't complain cause I am thankful for what I have.
