Sponge Holders and $500 More

My sponge holder idea isn't working out like I thought. These are too wonky and not easy to achieve with this technique. It's always worth a try making something new though. I used a needle tool after they firmed up. I know I have a fettling knife somewhere but not sure where. Maybe an exacto knife would work for cutting these? Any suggestions? Now that I'm looking at these in the photo. I think the cut may not be large enough for the sponge once these dry and are fired. One in the back wasn't quite firm enough and one side needs to be propped up.

The brakes cost another $500 more on the coast. Gary neglected to tell me when he was in Charlotte having the brakes done, they said they couldn't get the part for the left side and to "keep an eye on it". If I had known they said that, I would have insisted he get the other side done before leaving. Not sure how they couldn't find the part for a Chevy truck in Charlotte a huge city, yet they could find the part in a tiny coastal town. Sounds like they just wanted to go home early to me.

Now Gary is telling me the trailer may need tires, that'll be even more money. I'm pretty sure I need to win the lotto, even a couple thousand dollars would do. Of course I'd have to play the lotto to win. I guess we'll be selling the trailer after our vacation. I know I shouldn't complain; at least I get to go on a vacation. I really need to remember to say white rabbit tomorrow. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  2. Every time I think I might have a month to feel less money strain something else comes up. My car is getting older and that seems to be where it goes. I hope you have a good vacation. It's important to have time for a real break.

    1. Hi Teresa, thanks, it does seem no matter what we can't seem to get ahead or even stay even and things are so expensive any more, Gary was just telling me there is tax on food in Alabama so he'll drive across the border to buy food in Florida crazy, it seems either you make payments on a vehicle or repairs. even some new cars are almost more than a house, unbelievable, of course we never buy a new care only used. yes I need a vacation for sure. leaving tomorrow.

  3. Good luck. Some days it does seem impossible to get ahead. But I am glad you will get a holiday out of it.

  4. Hi Sue, thanks, just a bit worried about leaving my Barney by himself all that time, my neighbor next door will feed him his wet food and he has an automatic feeder for his dry food and water and a new cat door so he can come and go as he pleases, but I know he is going to miss us and we him.

  5. I managed to say "white rabbits"...but only after I'd already had my upon-waking morning chats with my two furry rascals. :)
