Cabin Fever & Split Pea Soup

This is the longest length of very cold winter days we've had since we've lived here. I can't imagine what our heat bill will be this month. Meanwhile I've been making comfort food like the split pea soup above. Gary said split pea soup reminds him of going to Pea Soup Andersen's in California. If you're driving on Interstate 5 between Sacramento and Los Angeles you can't miss the restaurant with it's windmill. The Santa Nella location is the second restaurant. The original restaurant established in 1924 is located in Buellton near Santa Barbara. Click the link to read the history of the restaurants.

We have cabin fever; not sure what folks do in really cold climates . As previously mentioned, we are resisting going out to public places to hopefully avoid getting the flu. Hope you are all weathering this winter well. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. What a neat looking restaurant!
Winter is difficult here to say the very least. I personally survive with my S.A.D. lamp, staying in my very sunny sunroom with lots of plants, and when it’s sunny, going outside. Even if it’s cold getting out in the open air for a few minutes helps clear away the cobwebs.
We are avoiding public spaces as much as possible. I also carry my own supply of wipes. I would rather look like a crazy person wiping down a seat in a movies theater than get sick! đŸ€

    1. Hi Suzi, thanks, we are wearing gloves, a mask happen to have them in the studio, and bring the handi wipes too, so far so good, when it's warm we are going out of doors too that does help.

  2. I wore a mask to church a few weeks ago. Not sure anyone else understood that I was well and just wanted to stay that way. Pick them up in waiting rooms of Dr. offices. I wear one at the community studio all the time, they've gotten used to it. But my lungs have been much healthier this winter (knock on wood.)

    1. Hi Barbara, thanks, I have masks in the studio and have been wearing them, especially to the grocery store, yippee for your lungs, probably the masks help.

  3. Haven't taken to wearing a mask yet, but do wipe things down and use hand sanitizers. We are also beginning to get cabin fever as we too have been avoiding public places whenever possible. On the positive side, I've got quite a few projects at home finished...
