Here are the ceramic flowers I made from this latest firing. I like the one with the yellow center and blue exterior. It takes a bit of doing to make the stamen and to glaze them a contrasting color but the effect is well worth it. The largest flower is about six inches across and five inches tall with the thick stem. I broke the petal on one of the large flowers and glazed it anyway, now I think it isn't worth the trouble of gluing it back together again.
I plan to glue a long wood or wire stem into a hole I have made in the bottom so these can be displayed in the garden, or in a houseplant for color. or they could be placed in a vase as an everlasting flowers. I hope to make refinements to the construction and make more of these. I am also planning to make some mushrooms or toadstools. I leave you with a peony from my garden. Happy Mother's Day to you all. ReplyDeleteI do like ceramic flowers, Linda. And I think the stamins add a lot. However, the ones without could be used for other things too.

ReplyDeleteHi Anna, thanks, the peony was one of the few things growing here when we moved, guess they like the cooler summer weather. First year it got one flower, this year it has gotten 6 or 7, regular water and mulch help.
