Mountain Laurel

Keep your eyes peeled in the forest, soon the mountain laurel will be blooming. Sometimes I make one of a kind pieces like this asymmetrical wall pocket. Later I find the item isn't practical to carry to the Saturday farmers market due to the fragility of the piece. The wall pocket looks nice displayed on the acrylic plate stand. However, I'm sure once it was on someone's wall it wasn't fragile any longer.
In other news we survived the big storm, I can hear the wind is really blowing this morning. We spent yesterday Spring cleaning. Many boxes were packed for the trash to treasures sales Gary goes to on Fridays here in town. Lots of experimental pots were smashed and more are to go as well. Gary calls me a hoarder. He said hoarders will clean up one day and go back and bring the items in the next. I'm actually thinking I need to keep a few more plate stands to display tiles on rather than have him sell them. Ha. Thanks for reading and for all your comments..

  1. Yes, plate stands are definitely worth keeping. Though sometimes a potter just has to delete a few pieces that are just taking up space. Good for you!

  2. Hi Barbara, thanks, every time I get rid of something a few weeks later I need it or wish I had it, oh well.

  3. I can't get rid of things fast enough. And very rarely do I regret or miss any of them.

    1. Hi Hena, thanks, we have way too much "stuff"; I have ideas of things to make with art and then I get distracted to something else and never go back to them, ugh

  4. We have lots of plate stands. I am learning to let things go. Himself is not.

    1. Hi Sue, thanks, at least one of you isn't a hoarder, just like us, ha.

  5. Time to take a walk in the mountains for that Mountain Laurel. Thanks for the reminder. We're in the same boat, have so much stuff and we are in the process of downsizing but oh boy, what do we get rid of? I keep telling myself we might need that. That's my problem :)

  6. Hi Denise, thanks, that is my problem too, but I must let go, I can't imagine if we were gone what someone might think going through out household of items.
