But if I eat it I should be able to think of what I am eating when it was alive too, I think.

Hi Meredith, thanks, I could really like in that little shack, maybe some day. I'd probably be making lots of fish, bird and boat drawings on my plates. I met a guy at the fish store and he said when he lived in Italy they just put onions in a pot with the octopus and it tenderized itself. I read on the internet about the massaging technique, but the owners of the fish market said they boiled it for an hour to tenderize it. I was just reading about octopus and how they are the most intelligent invertebrates and then I was feeling kind of sad that I will be eating one. Oh well, we shall see. I'll have to say a little homage to the creature for sustaining us.Linda Starrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04364078667554676592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-91204076846804249612012-11-27T08:29:04.845-05:002012-11-27T08:29:04.845-05:00On Sunday I watched the movie "Jiro Dreams of...On Sunday I watched the movie "Jiro Dreams of Sushi", great documentary by the way, and in the movie the sushi chef apprentices were massaging the octopus to make the sushi. They massage it for up to an hour!
Curious to read about how you prepared it.Michèle Hastingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11346907762804197879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-67632241175080870972012-11-27T07:35:03.690-05:002012-11-27T07:35:03.690-05:00Hi Turquoisemoon, thanks, I know it sound gross, b...Hi Turquoisemoon, thanks, I know it sound gross, but they actually taste delicious, it picks up the flavor of whatever you cook it with. A person living near the sea learns to eat what is available to them, hearkening back to days of yore and a somewhat basic survival mentality. The octopus is a 'very reasonably priced' local catch at this fish market.Linda Starrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04364078667554676592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-1568084136695262612012-11-27T07:16:23.452-05:002012-11-27T07:16:23.452-05:00ewwww...octopus??? ewwww...octopus??? turquoisemoonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14893008689507282266noreply@blogger.com
