I love the fact your family has an annual trip to the vintage tin in the back 40 so to speak on Thanksgiving and can reminese about them.Linda Starrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04364078667554676592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-44508058413154609762009-10-17T13:51:54.657-04:002009-10-17T13:51:54.657-04:00Alaska is such a young state, we rarely have vinta...Alaska is such a young state, we rarely have vintage relics out in the open. When I see images of abandoned steel I can't help but want to take my plasma cutter to them and weld some ART!cindy shakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01353820195984269329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-12565196025887276022009-10-17T12:16:21.799-04:002009-10-17T12:16:21.799-04:00About your comment "What a shame to see these...About your comment "What a shame to see these old cars just rusting away in the desert" - I don't think it's a shame, really. Many of us, you included, find beauty in this very thing...finding them in a natural setting as their final resting (or "rusting") place rather than "restored" in a museum.

As much as we wouldn't want our roads flanked by every old abandoned modern-day vehicle, I think it's neat that some of them are left just where they were when they "died". The same goes for finding old barns. Wouldn't it be a shame if all of them were torn down?

In my family, there's an annual Thanksgiving tradition that includes going to visit the old relic cars....ones that we drove in the late 60's and early 70's when we were young. They're final resting place - in a wooded area at the back of the family farm. It's a special time to rehash memories of our teenage years and share them with our kids and grandkids. Those same cars, parked in the yard near the farm house would be an eyesore but, here, in this natural setting, they're a thing of beauty, each with a story to tell.Shunpikerhttp://www.frugal-rv-travel.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-45189314976532743632009-10-17T02:11:59.191-04:002009-10-17T02:11:59.191-04:00Oh Mary, I think the same thing about the cars and...Oh Mary, I think the same thing about the cars and buildings and all the old things, I'll bet even teapots have a story to tell.Linda Starrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04364078667554676592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-21853042266698977472009-10-16T21:32:33.136-04:002009-10-16T21:32:33.136-04:00Amazing photos once again of the old cars. I will have to check out the blog post, I hope I can find it.

Hi Jewels, So glad to hear from you. It is funny how I become attached to the bloggers around the world particularly in a state like Arkansas where I once lived. I should probably be packing instead of blogging, but I work well under pressure, Gary is pulling his hair out though. We will probably drive right through Arkansas, I will let you know, it would be nice to meet you in person.Linda Starrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04364078667554676592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7184126423669640998.post-20978996162313000912009-10-16T16:33:31.944-04:002009-10-16T16:33:31.944-04:00Hello Linda!
